This is a tool to guide the implementation of a career development continuum to interest students in teaching careers. This is accomplished through a series of classroom and club activities, a variety of job-related exposures and community experiences.
The Framework is designed for use by:
Students – find inspiration and activities that will help them learn what teaching is all about and inform their decision to become a teacher.
Families – help their child discover their passion for teaching; identify learning opportunities and experiences to support their child’s pathway into an education career.
Educators – teach skills, knowledge and capabilities related to the teaching profession and becoming a teacher; use strategies that can be integrated into required class activities.
TALAT Club Coordinator – plan and implement a sequence of club activities and experiences for students across grade levels and across the career development continuum: awareness, exploration and immersion.
Community Groups – place students in authentic environments to engage in some of the activities and experiences described in the Framework.
Higher Education – collaborate with K-12 and community partners to create and expand opportunities for students that will develop personal and professional skills and support their journey into teaching.
